The role is suitable for a qualified job coach with a passion for working with young people.

Ad Astra are seeking to appoint an Employability and Job Coach, who will be required to support the delivery focused of employability, pastoral and mentoring support for our Post 16 young people with special education needs such as SEMH, Autism and PDA.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to nurture and support the young person whilst challenging and encouraging them to achieve sustainable employment and/or education and training. Previous experience in supporting young people with SEN and/or learning difficulties on a one-to-one basis in a coaching or mentoring capacity is preferred for this role.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Effectively engage with young participants and develop trust-based, intensive relationships to provide an appropriate level of support.

  • Apply a mix of assessment quality holistic support, challenge and mentoring techniques to the relationship with the young person.

  • Support the young person in actively addressing barriers to education or work, setting clear goals, short- and medium-term actions consistent with accessing employment, training or education.

  • Regularly review progress and challenges with each young person.

  • Manage Health and Safety and Data Protection to legal standards.

  • Maintain appropriate caseloads reflecting a young person’s varied levels of need, in order to ensure a flexible, holistic support service addressing employability, education and wider personal support barriers.

  • Explore and access existing support to address the identified support needs of individual young people.

  • Make new and maintain existing working relationships with organisations in and around York and North Yorkshire

  • Assist Post 16 students in applying for work experience placements and supporting them in their employment journey.

  • Maintain an up to date record of reports, individual action planning, and support provided.

  • Work closely with the SLT team to provide regular updates on student placements.

Driving is necessary for this role and the successful client will need to transport young people to and from work experience placements.

SALARY: £21,000 Pro rata

​
