On the 18th March 2020, the government announced an unprecedented decision concerning the indefinite closure of schools from Friday 20th March because of the coronavirus outbreak. During these worrying and stressful times for all our stakeholders, parents and carers, we would like to offer our reassurance that Ad Astra will remain open for those students with EHCPs and Looked After Children from Monday 20th March until further notice.
Ad Astra are taking all necessary precautions and keeping in touch with all government notifications. We are contacting everyone to inform them of our availability from next week and would like to inform our stakeholders that parents/carers asked a series of questions below by telephone communications regarding their child’s health and family members.
a. If anyone in their household is showing symptoms of coronavirus or if there are any self-isolators in the household due to underlying medical conditions.
b. Whether or not parents/carers could collect their child if they are to feel unwell during their sessions at Ad Astra due to the safeguarding of our staff who transport students daily.
If either of the above are a cause for concern, we advise the students to stay at home.
I would also like to inform you that planning, and session delivery will be adapted to ensure the safety of our students and staff is a priority. You will be updated of any changes in emails over the next twenty-four hours.
We would like to inform you that our cook out sessions will be placed on hold and as result, the end of the day will now be 1pm and we would appreciate all school referrers to alter any student transport they may currently have until further notice. (students who are taxied in/from Ad Astra)
Students should bring in their own named water bottles. For students who currently receive free school meals, Ad Astra will provide a packed lunch sealed for minimal contamination to take home at the end of the session.
During this time of uncertainty, the safety of our student and staff is paramount alongside supporting our students to minimise disruption as far as possible.
I would like to end this letter in paying tribute to all our staff at Ad Astra, who are working tirelessly in such a demanding environment that we have never experienced. Their effort, dedication and support is outstanding and I am extremely proud of how all staff are dealing with the current situation.
